In order to reinforce the exchange and collaboration between home and school, form the joint forces of education and feasibly make the exam preparation work practicable for students from graduating classes, on the afternoon of 27th April, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department of the east campus successfully convened the parents’ meeting for all students in Grade 9. The meeting comprised two sessions. During the former session, Principal Assistant& Junior High Director Lu Dan made a mobilization speech titled ‘Work Closely, Instruct Scientifically and Make All-Out Sprint towards the Senior High School Entrance Examination’ in the School Lecture Hall. During the latter one, the parent-teacher conference was held in each class separately.
Initially at 3.30 P.M. the grand and solemn Lecture Hall was beautifully lit. All parents of the 9th grade students gathered together and listened quietly to the speech delivered by Principal Assistant Lu Dan. The conference started with an inspiring song ‘I Believe’.
In the first place, Principal Assistant Lu Dan summarized the recent work in graduating classes, laid emphasis on the significant role of the parents’ meeting before the Senior High School Entrance Examination and announced the satisfactory performance achieved by Anqing Foreign Language School in the Model Test One in Anqing City. Specifically, of all the students’ scores above 700, Anqing Foreign Language School occupied 8 seats, among which two students were from the east campus. More remarkably, the average score in two international classes was 592.19 points, ranking first in Anqing City.
In the second place, Principal Assistant Lu Dan hoped that each and every parent was supposed to have the consciousness that they have examinees at home. Afterwards, Principal Assistant Lu put forward nine measures for parents to help their children greet the Entrance Examination for Secondary School.
In the third place, Principal Assistant Lu Dan made arrangements in regard to the teaching work in graduating classes in later periods, especially the items that required parents’ cooperation.
In the fourth place, Principal Assistant Lu Dan conveyed the relevant policies of preparatory enrollment in Anqing Foreign Language School’s Senior High Department. When the conference concluded, Principal Assistant Lu forcefully articulated that, quote, ‘Winds and waves stop sometimes, hoisting the sails to travel in the vast sea. Let us join hands and lead students to make a spurt towards the Senior High School Entrance Examination. In the season of gardenia blossom, we shall reach the other side of success.’
Later on, at around 4.20 P.M. all parents arrived at their children ’s classes respectively in the teaching building. Each class convened the parents’ meeting, during which each head teacher prepared detailed and accurate materials, elaborately made courseware, exchanged views with parents about the work in this year’s graduating classes as well as the test scores in the Model Test One in Anqing City. Other than that, head teachers also analyzed the existing problems in students’ learning process and provided parents with some specific and feasible proposals. What’s more, some parents communicated with head teachers alone after the meeting.
By sunset, parents lingered around and gradually stepped out of the teaching building. The splendid evening glow in the sky made us firmly believe that it would be a radiant and enchanting bright sunny day tomorrow.
To sum up, this grand conference was efficient and pragmatic, which not only won substantial support and full praise from parents, but also reached a consensus between parents and school in terms of the subsequent work in graduating classes.
